Beseda is a Czechoslovak-Australian Association of Canberra and Region, Inc., Australia.
The Beseda’s main activity is to organize and host cultural, social, and sporting activities, including Czech language classes, in an endeavour to revive and maintain the languages, cultural heritage, and national traditions of the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

We report on our activities for the past year, elect a new committee in accordance with the association’s constitution, and discuss proposals for the next year’s program.
We welcome suggestions and ideas to make our club better, and all will be discussed during the general meeting

Výbor Besedy zve nejen členy, ale i všechny Čechy a Slováky žijící v Canbeře a okolí, aby se zúčastnili této Výroční schůze a pomohli nám zvolit nový výbor.
Na pořadu budou zprávy o činnosti v minulém roce, volba nového výboru a návrhy na činnost v příštích dvanácti měsících.
Veškeré návrhy a nápady na zlepšení klubu Beseda a jeho činnosti jsou vítány a budou během schůze prodiskutovány.

An activity-rich pre-Christmas afternoon full of fun. Like every year, you can expect Christmas-themed activities, traditional carols, and, of course, a visit from St Nicholas and his team with angels and possibly a devil.
They will have a sweet prize for the children in exchange for a short song or a little poem.

Wombat Workshop

During our creative workshop, participants can make clay wombats and keyrings or decorate small bowls.
Organised in collaboration with Wombat Rescue, the event will offer children an opportunity to learn more about protecting native wildlife, caring for the environment, and the importance of nature conservation.
As a gesture of appreciation for the valuable work of Wombat Rescue and the dedication of everyone involved in protecting these animals, including our librarian Veronika, some of the completed artworks will be donated to the organisation.

XVIII Conference of Czech Schools Abroad
Prague, 27.-31.7. 2026
This year’s XVIII Conference of Czech Schools Abroad was held at the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. Daniela represented the Czech School of Canberra, joining teachers and representatives from more than 150 Czech schools operating around the world. Meeting colleagues in person, sharing experiences and inspiring one another in the teaching of Czech was an immensely valuable and enriching experience.
The conference was also attended by representatives of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, and the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, including Tomáš Czernin, Chair of the Senate Standing Commission on Compatriots Living Abroad.
The programme included professional webinars and the official opening of the Czech Schools Abroad exhibition at the National Pedagogical Museum and Library of J. A. Comenius. Our school also had the opportunity to present its activities through its own poster.
The exhibition will remain open until 29 January 2027, so if you are visiting Prague, be sure to stop by! 🥂
XVIII. konference českých škol v zahraničí
Praha, 27.-31.7. 2026
Letošní XVIII. konference českých škol v zahraničí se uskutečnila v prostorách Senátu Parlamentu ČR. Vedle zástupkyně České školy v Canbeře Daniely se jí zúčastnili také pedagogové a zástupci více než 150 českých škol působících po celém
světě. Možnost osobně se setkat s kolegy z českých škol z celého
světa, sdílet zkušenosti a vzájemně se inspirovat při výuce češtiny je nesmírně cenná a obohacující zkušenost.
Na konferenci nechyběli ani zástupci Ministerstva zahraničních věcí ČR, Ministerstva školství, mládeže a tělovýchovy ČR a Senátu Parlamentu ČR v čele s Tomášem Czerninem, předsedou Stálé komise Senátu pro krajany žijící v zahraničí.🥂
Součástí programu byly odborné webináře i slavnostní zahájení výstavy České školy v zahraničí v Národním pedagogickém muzeu a knihovně J. A. Komenského. Také naše škola zde představila své aktivity prostřednictvím vlastního plakátu.
Výstava potrvá až do 29. ledna 2027, pokud budete mít cestu do Prahy, určitě ji navštivte!
