Learn how to cook a classic Czech Dumplings in 4 different ways in 1.5 hour long lesson with Vít. From 3 pm to 4.30 pm via ZOOM
Knedlíky are traditional Czech dumplings which use a dough similar to bread dough. They’re boiled and sliced, and served with a variety of traditional Czech dishes. If you enjoy Czech food, you’ll definitely need to learn how to make this authentic recipe!
In this lesson Vit will show you 3 different varieties of dumplings, how the finished product should look like as well as how to cook them at your home. You can chose to just watch and learn or should you like to make these at same time as Vit does these you can too.
Varieties of dumplings you will learn how to make:
* The Traditional Bread Dumpling
* Karlovarský Dumpling
* Potato based Dumpling
And as a bonus, Vit will also show you how to make a super easy super quick dumpling in a mug using just your microwave and under 10 mins
Ingredients list for The Traditional Bread Dumplings
(makes 3 whole dumplings to feed 6 people)
- Buy 500g of Continental Flour (if you lucky IGA sometimes sells these) otherwise just get 250g of Plain Flour and 250g of Semolina
- 300 ml Milk
- 1 Egg
- 80g of Fresh Yeast (or Dry Yeast is fine too or baking powder as last resort)
- 4 teaspoons of white sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 8 slices of the white toast bread, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
Ingredients list for ‘Potato Dumpling’
- 500g cooked potatoes (day before and chilled overnight)
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoon of salt
- 50 g semolina
- 50g flour
Ingredients list for Karlovarský Dumpling
- 15-20 slices of white toast bread (left outside 1 day or 2 so little dry is better)
- 2-3 eggs
- 300 ml milk
- 50g Plain flour
- 50g Semolina
- Bunch of fresh parsley
- 2 x pinch of nutmeg
- Salt
Ingredients for a quick dumpling in a cup (an easy option)
- 1 Cup of self raising flour
- 1 cup of milk
- 10 slices of white toast bread
- 1 egg
- Pinch of salt
- 50 g of butter
